The classic arcade side scroller

Lion King is without exception one of the best examples of a wonderful arcade style game which will remain with audiences for countless years to come. No matter how old you are, you love The Lion King and you won’t be able to resist seeing little Simba as a cub, jumping around on chameleons and giraffe heads as well as a full grown badass lion.

Like in all side scrollers, your goal is to move towards the right side of the screen, jumping, dodging and rolling. It seems simple enough but Lion King was designed in a time where a lot of creativity and thought was put into a game and this one has its fair share of clever puzzles that you need to figure to advance in the game.

Released in ‘94 and it still looks great

We have to admit that when it comes to the classics, and this applies to all of us, we can’t but help to feel nostalgic and consequently a bit more generous when we evaluate things. Just so as to get it out of the way, Lion King’s graphics could use a much needed improvement because some things might turn out looking much better and can make the game much more enjoyable.

On the other hand even with its obsolete graphics, it still looks great in terms of world design, details and overall atmosphere. You start off jumping through green jungles that have wonderfully colored sunsets in the background and as Simba makes his way through life, the color tones become fewer and fewer and foliage is replaced with caves and fire.

As for gameplay, the dynamics are great, character animations and controls are spot on and you simply can’t get bored playing it.

A fun game for all ages

To sum things up, if you're looking for a casual and very entertaining game, you can certainly try Lion King. Beneath its 8 bit graphics lie a good couple of fun filled minutes.

The life of a lion; pretty neat simulation

Free Download Games On Switch

The successor of Wolf, a top down simulation of a wolf's life, Lion take a similar approach to the game. You have a fully fledged natural environment to roam free within, with the idea being of surviving, from the very first moments, as a cub to the end. The game features a pool of 20 characters, lions, each with its own attributes, and so, the game offers you enough diversity so that you will be able to pick the right one for you. There are also 20 missions; but, the game proper is a free sandbox mode. The habitat, unlike it was in Wolf, is less sprawling; you only have the savanna, but that is to be expected; the game is realistic, and unlike a wolf, lions are mostly found in these kinds of conditions. Also, as an additional game mode, you can go for a safari, where you cannot interact with the animas, but just look at them. Overall it's a sort of Sims game, well done, in 2D, easy to control via mouse and keyboard commands, and a feel good, relaxing game most in the end. If you like to see how a lion goes about its day, sure, it's definitely worth it
