PC and Mac clients can play together. The statement on the Steam Store suggesting that L4D is not 'Cross Platform' means that the console version cannot play with the Mac/PC version. I have a Mac and a PC and have played with people on both Macs and PCs alike. Left 4 Dead 2 is a cooperative first person zombie shooter. Through the Steam Play functionality, existing Windows users can download the Mac version for free. New customers can also play on. For Left 4 Dead on the PC, a GameFAQs message board topic titled 'Is left 4 dead for mac?' Left 4 Dead 2 picks up where the first one left off by expanding the world. However, both games are quite similar. The newer one has more weapons, zombies, and a bit more story while bringing an end to the series. World War Z could be a latter successor, so to speak, as it copies much of L4D yet adds some more elements.
